I found this editorial published in Vogue Uk in May 2009, entitled "Good Vibrations". It is tribal themed and from looking through the images I can see inspiration taken from the Surma Tribe, using flowers and leaves to frame the face. Take a look!
I really like the kind of slapdash approach to the face paint. It makes the makeup look more authentic.
The stylist has crafted the leaves in the hair to make them look a lot more fashionable and deliberate. Some of them look a bit like hats.
